Polish pianist Małgorzata Walentynowicz currently dedicates her performing work to new music, increasingly in projects with multimedia. The program of her concert will consist of pieces for piano, synthesizer and electronics by Johannes Kreidler, Brigitta Muntendorf, Pierre Jodlowski and Katarina Glowicka, composers with whom Małgorzata had been collaborating for years. Every composer refers to the visual aspect in a unique way, whether by using video as a part of the piece or by recalling well known movies and paintings.
Johannes Kreidler in “study for piano, audio and video playback” increased the performance aspect. He recorded the interpret on video in advance, and this material will be screened as multitrack video in the concert hall together with the live performance. He experiments with the possibilities to have e.g. 10 or even 64 pianos.
Brigitta Muntendorf’s idea was to feature every live performer with a separate video. The significant scenes of “Piano cover - public privacy 2 ” were recorded by the live performers themselves with a webcam or by Muntendorf in Skype sessions. These videos are mixed together with other unknown recordings chosen from youtube.com.
Pierre Jodlowski is using visuals in a different way. Both pieces chosen for the concert are part of the cycle for piano and tape music refering to our imagination of colours. In "Série Rose" largely inspired by sex, pornography and love conversations, we get lost in imaginary conversations which have been taken from some referential movies. We are surrounded by voices and breathings, by sensual and pathetic groans.
“Série Bleue” is directely inspired by the composer’s personal encounter with the blue monochromatic paintings from Yves Klein. The idea here was to describe a minimalistic state but in which some resonances, echoes and tension progressively appear.
“Retina” by Katarina Glowicka was created as a collaboration with the visual artist Emmanual Flores. They created an artistic study in the kinetic relationships between sound, image, motion and space. This and all other piano pieces by Glowicka were recorded by Małgorzata Walentynowicz and released by Bôłt records this year.
