The main theme of the discussion is Bucharest Biennale 6 (23 May - 24 July 2014), to which Nicolaus Schafhausen has been appointed curator. The subject matter focuses on the concept-couple Longing & Belonging and the opposure between (national) identity and individuality.
The 6th edition of Bucharest Biennale 2014 will be the headstone of a lasting cultural interchange between Bucharest and Vienna. Firstly, there has been a direct connection ever since the Romanian Bucharest Biennale and Kunsthalle Vienna's exhibitions and other projects in 2005, which took place simultaneously. Also linked is the exhibition named "The Brancuși Effect" (27 May - September 2014), which is dedicated to the influence of the sculptor in contemporary art.
